Across much of the world, the phrase “energy transition” implies a shift from established energy systems toward cleaner alternatives. But for many African countries, the reality is fundamentally different.
Much of Sub-Saharan Africa is not transitioning away from mature energy systems, it is still in the process of building the energy infrastructure required to drive industrialization, economic growth, and improved quality of life.
This edition of the Africa Energy Dialogue Series explored a critical question:
What energy transition framework is right for Africa?
The session examined how Africa’s development priorities challenge dominant global climate narratives and what a truly just, practical, and development-oriented energy pathway should look like for the continent.
Through evidence-based and solution-focused discussion, policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and practitioners explored:
